At least 10 people were killed Friday when a suicide car bomb went off in a town in the southern Syrian province of Daraa, activists said.

The car exploded near a mosque in al-Yaduda town, killing at least 10 civilians, Xinhua reported citing the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, adding that the death toll is likely to rise as the blast left some people seriously injured.

Separately, the Britain-based watchdog said that rebels from the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant executed 13 civilians in the Hraitan district of the northern province of Aleppo.

It said the slain civilians were relatives of rival rebel groups, with which the ISIL has been engaged in pitched battles over the past few months.

The violence in Syria has been running for almost three years amid low expectations for a breakthrough in the ongoing negotiations between the government and the opposition in Geneva.
