At least 10 Taliban militants were killed as clash flared up in Afghanistan's Helmand province on Tuesday, an official said.
"Taliban rebels attacked police checkpoints in Kariz Sadi area of Marja district on Tuesday. At least 10 militants were killed on the spot as the police retaliated the attack," Xinhua quoted provincial police spokesman Shah Mahmoud Ashna as saying.
At least six militants and two police personnel were injured in the clash which was continuing, the official added.
Taliban militants who are active in the parts of Helmand province were yet to make any comment.
