Havaldar Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, a 100-year-old veteran of two world wars, was successfully treated at the army's Satwari Hospital in Jammu Thursday, officials said.

"The 166 Military Hospital at Satwari got an opportunity to treat a century-old ex-serviceman and veteran, Havaldar (retd) Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din," defence spokesman S.N. Acharya told IANS.

"In an exceptional case of medical treatment history of the 166 Military Hospital, the veteran was given medical treatment and discharged from the hospital today (Thursday)."

"The veteran has rendered valuable service to the nation while serving with the 7 JAK Rifles and seen both world wars and all the four wars after Independence in Jammu and Kashmir during his tenure in the army," he said.

Brigadier M.M. Harjai, commandant of the military hospital, took personal interest and monitored the treatment, the defence spokesman said.

"The ex-serviceman is still ambulant and recalls most of the major events of his life," the spokesman said.
