11 killed in Pakistan cinema hall blasts

At least 11 people were killed and 25 others injured Tuesday in bomb attacks at a cinema hall in Pakistan's Peshawar city, police said.

Ijaz Ahmad, senior police officer, said the Shama cinema hall was attacked at 3.40 p.m. in Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, reported Xinhua.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured to the Lady Reading Hospital in the city.

Hospital sources said the death toll might rise as many of the injured were in critical condition and were being treated in intensive care units of the hospital

At the time of the attack, around 70 people were watching a film in the hall.

 

Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the attacks.

The blasts came 11 days after a similar attack hit the Picture House Cinema situated in Kabuli Bazaar area of Peshawar.
