The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 121 kg of psychotropic substance Alprazolam from a factory here and arrested three people, officials said on Thursday.
DRI's Hyderabad regional unit on Wednesday conducted the search at a factory in Jeedimetla, illegally manufacturing and storing the substance.
The three accused including owner of the company and a chemist were produced before court, which sent them to 14 day judicial custody on Thursday.
According to a statement by DRI, the substance along with drying machine being used for its manufacture and cash amounting to Rs.3.97 lakh were seized from the unit.
The estimated value of the seized Alprazolam in the domestic market is about Rs.24.25 lakh.
The accused admitted their role in manufacture, storage and delivery of the psychotropic substance. They earlier sold the substance to toddy shop owners in and around Nizamabad and Adilabad for mixing the same in the liquor.
