There have been 127 infiltration attempts in Jammu and Kashmir since 2015, the government informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. As many as 101 terrorism incidents have taken place in the state since 2016.

In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre said there were 28 infiltration attempts in 2015, 88 in 2016, and 11 up to February this year.

In 2016, there were 99 terror-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, compared with nine till March 16 this year.

In 2016, 40 soldiers were killed in anti-terror operations and nine while foiling infiltration bids.

In 2017, till March 17, 10 soldiers have been killed in counter-terror operations.

In response to another question on ceasefire violations, Bhamre said India has from time to time condemned ceasefire violations and it wants peace along the international borders.

"The government has, from time to time, strongly condemned incidents of ceasefire violations on part of Pakistan forces and called upon Pakistan, including through diplomatic channels, not to violate the ceasefire understanding of 2003 and to fulfil its commitment to not allow its territory or territories under its control to be used for terrorism against India. India wants to maintain peace and calm along the Line of Control, and remains committed by the tenets of ceasefire understanding of 2003," Bhamre said.
