13 killed, 39 injured in Iraq attacks

At least 13 people were killed and 39 wounded in violent attacks in different parts of the city here Wednesday, police said.

Five people were killed and 12 suffered injuries when a car bomb exploded in a popular market in the city's New Baghdad district, Xinhua quoted a police source as saying.

Four people were killed and 15 wounded when two car bombs went off in the city's Shuala area. Two people were killed and eight wounded when a car bomb exploded in a market in Baghdad's Talbea area, a police source said.

Unidentified people killed two civilians and injured four in the city's Camp Sara area, he added.

 

According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, a total of 8,868 Iraqis, including 7,818 civilians and civilian police personnel, were killed in 2013, marking highest annual toll in years.
