Thirteen people have been killed in drug-related violence in the Mexican city of Matamoros, authorities said Monday.
Eight men died in two separate shootouts between gunmen and troops Sunday afternoon, while another five people, including a woman, were killed earlier in the day in a clash between unidentified armed groups, reported Xinhua citing Tamaulipas government authorities.
None of the dead have been identified yet, the state government added.
Matamoros, which lies in the northern part of Tamaulipas, is known as a smuggling springboard on the US-Mexico border.
