A exhibition showcasing 132 photographs of life and dreams in China opens here on Saturday.

Titled "Life and Dreams in China - The Past and the Present", the exhibition is being hosted as a joint initiative between China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

The exhibition is on at the Art Gallery of the P.L.Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy Ravindra Natya Mandir.

"This photo exhibition has no listing of China's landmark events or symbolic moments in the past years. Rather, it gives out plain changes in people's daily lives such as clothing, housing, food, transportation, entertainment and environment," a statement from the organizers said.

With rapid economic development, great changes have taken place in the Chinese society and with the people's lives, these pictures aim to bring back the memories of the passionate decades, organizers said.

By reading into ordinary people's expressions and body languages, as well as looking at simple family albums, one can perceive the progress in the Chinese society with people's lives, the statement said.

"Through such photography, cultural exchanges could get both India and China closer to each other and further mutual understanding," it added.
