At least 14 Taliban militants were killed in Kunduz province on Sunday as cleanup operations continue in parts of the troubled province of Afghanistan, a local official said.
"Security forces launched operations against Taliban hideouts in Dasht-e-Archi district and 14 rebels, including Mullah Shakib, the shadow governor of the district, have been killed," Xinhua quoted district governor Nasrudin Saadi as saying.
Crackdown against militants would continue till peace and stability return to the district, he added.
Taliban militants are yet to make comments.
Afghanistan forces after recapturing Kunduz city, capital of Kunduz province, began attacking Taliban militants in their bastion in Dasht-e-Archi district.
The forces evicted militants from major parts of the district and the neighbouring Chardara and Imam Sahib counties.
