At least 14 militants were killed and 23 others arrested during a three-day raid by the Egyptian army on terrorist hideouts in North Sinai governorate, a military statement said Monday.
"Fourteen terrorists were killed during a three-day raid in Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah cities," Xinhua quoted Ahmed Mohamed Ali, an army spokesman, as saying in a statement.
At least 11 warehouses where goods were being kept to be smuggled to the Gaza Strip were also demolished, the statement said.
The armed forces, in cooperation with the police, have launched a large-scale operation to destroy terrorist spots in Sinai where militants have been staging attacks on the army and the police since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last year.
