15-year-old Chinese wins first gold of Asian Youth Games

Chinese 15-year-old weightlifter Jiang Huihua took the first gold in Asian Youth Games here Saturday, winning the women's 48kg category with a lift of 183kg.

Jiang stamped her control by snatching a 13-kg lead before she jerked up a game-high 100kg to win the title.

Sukcharoen Thunya of Thailand pocketed the silver medal with a total of 160kg. Both Yao Lingling from China and Kang Hyongyong from DPR Korea lifted 152kg. Yao edged off Kang on weight-difference to stand on the third place.

"It's my first continental championship, so I'm quite happy with my performance," said Jiang, "I hope that one day, I can stand on the Olympic podium."
