Israel arrested 16 Palestinians in raids across the West Bank overnight, the Israeli army said Monday.
Those detained were suspected of involvement in rioting and "terrorist" activities, including throwing stones and fire-bombs at civilians and security forces, Xinhua reported citing an army spokeswoman.
Five of the suspects were arrested in Burin, a village south of Nablus, and two, allegedly affiliated with Hamas, in Beitunia, a Palestinian town west of Ramallah. The rest were taken from villages near Jenin and Hebron.
