171 Indian students awarded at International Olympiad

As many as 171 Indian students were awarded here by the International Olympiad 2016-17 that saw a participation of at least 45 lakh students from 25 countries.

These were the results of the six examinations conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) in 2016.

"About 42,000 students from 5,100 schools have achieved top level and state level ranks whereas around 8 lakh students have been awarded with medals of excellence," SOF founder and Director Mahabir Singh said at the award ceremony held here on Sunday.

Students scoring the number one position were awarded with a cash prize of of Rs 50,000, and a gold medal. Those with the second rank bagged the award money of Rs 25,000 and a silver medal, and the third rankers got Rs 10,000 and a bronze medal.

 

The top 10 principals, 50 teachers whose students put up an exceptional performance were also felicitated.

SOF organises six olympiads every year, namely -- National Cyber Olympiad (NCO), National Science Olympiad (NSO), International Mathematics (IMO), International English Olympiad (IEO), International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO), and International Company Secretaries Olympiad (ICSO).
