Mexican authorities have rescued 178 Central American migrants found abandoned in a trailer in Veracruz state, the media reported.
Those rescued on Saturday included women and children, and are being housed in the town of Tantima near the the US-Mexico border, reports CNN.
Their health conditions were not immediately known.
According to the country's National Institute for Migration, migrants from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador fleeing violence and poverty travel through the state of Veracruz on their way to the US.
Without documents, they ride on trailers or atop freight trains and are sometimes badly injured or even killed before they complete their journey.
This incident comes a week after 10 undocumented immigrants died in an overheated semi-truck in Texas.
