The Ghaziabad police chief flagged off 195 patrol vehicles including 85 PCR vans and 110 motorcycles at the police lines here Friday morning.

Speaking on the occasion Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Yadav said the state government has spent Rs. 7 crore to modernise the Ghaziabad police.

Seven hundred police personnel have been assigned to the job of handling public complaints in a hi-tech control room which receives feed from 150 CCTV cameras installed across the city at strategic locations.

The high resolution CCTV cameras can capture images even in fog and poor light. The images will be sent to the control room which through GPRS system would instruct the patrol vehicles to act accordingly.

The modernisation programme has been named "DIAL 100".

The number 100 has been enabled with 15 lines to flash messages instantly, said Yadav.
