2 dead, 3 injured in Delhi road accident

At least two persons died and three others were critically injured when a speeding car hit them as they were walking home on Thursday night, police said. The driver of the car has been arrested.

One of the deceased has been identified as Rohan, 17, a resident of Sultanpuri in outer Delhi, while the identity of the second deceased was not established yet, police said.

The injured have been identified as Rohit, Dhanshyam and Madanlal, all residents of Sultanpuri area, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday night around 11 p.m., when the speeding Maruti car rammed into the pedestrians.

 

A senior police officer related to the probe told IANS that the driver Ravi, 39, was caught by the locals and then handed over to police. A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and rash driving was registered against him.

The injured were shifted to Sanjay Gandhi memorial hospital, from where Dhanshyam and Madanlal were referred to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narain hospital, the officer said.
