Two people were killed and 18 others were injured when a passenger train derailed near Turin in northern Italy, the Italian media reported on Thursday.
The accident took place late Wednesday when the train was passing over a level crossing and hit a truck near the village of Are, about 35 km from Turin, Efe news reported.
The driver of the train was killed while the second victim was taken to a hospital by helicopter with severe injuries but he did not survive. The locomotive and two carriages came off the track in the incident.
