At least 20 people were killed and over 30 injured on Thursday when a truck crashed into a crowd of pilgrims in the central Mexican state of Zacatecas, a media report said.

The toll could increase as many of the critically injured have been admitted to hospitals, Xinhua quoted Jaime Santoyo Castro, secretary general of administration, as saying.

Castro said the cause of the accident remained unclear and it was not yet confirmed whether the driver had fled the scene or was among the dead or injured.
