Spanish football icon Xavi Hernandez, ex-Barcelona star and currently at Qatari club Al Sadd, believes that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be "comfortable, beautiful and attractive for both the fans and players".
"The stadiums are outstanding. I think it will be good for the spectators and fans," Xavi told Efe after the Leaders Awards gala held here on Wednesday.
"This will be also good for the players, who will not have to travel or move much. It will be a comfortable and very nice World Cup," said the 35-year-old, considered one of the best central midfielders in football history.
Xavi, 2010 World Cup winner, presented former Real Madrid's Italian head coach Carlo Ancelotti with the "Inspiring Leader" award during the first edition of the "Leaders Awards" gala held in London.
Xavi, who recently joined the Qatari football scene, said that he is "very happy" in Doha and is enjoying "a very attractive and exciting project".
"Qatar is allowing me to train as a coach, and now I'm learning things with the Under-23 squad," said Xavi, who played 133 times for Spain.
"This is a very attractive, exciting and long term project, which will run until the World Cup in 2022," said Xavi, who won eight La Liga and four European Champions League titles with Barcelona.
