At least 24 people were killed and 150 injured Thursday when Taliban militants attacked government buildings in Afghanistan.

The attack took place in Ghazni province.

The victims were 19 militants, three policemen and two personnel of the National Directorate for Security (NDS), a security official told Xinhua.

"The attack began after three car bombs targetting the intelligence agency building and the information and culture department went off," the official said.

"The fight lasted for more than five hours," the official added.

A total of 136 civilians and 14 security personnel were injured.
