As many as 246 kilometres of state roads in Himachal Pradesh have been declared new National Highways since 2013-14, Parliament was told on Monday.
"With this, the total length of national highways in Himachal Pradesh is about 2,642 kilometres at present," Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Mansukh Lal Mandaviya told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
"Apart from this, the ministry has approved 'in-principle' about 4,507 kms state roads as new national highways subject to outcome of their Detailed Project Reports (DPRs)," he said adding that the preparation of DPRs has been initiated.
