At least 28 Shia Houthi militias were killed Friday when Sunni fighters attacked a convoy in Yemen's al-Bayda province.
"A convoy of the Shia Houthi group comprising six cars was ambushed by fighters of the Sunni tribes in Khobza village," an official told Xinhua.
"The well-armed Sunni tribesmen opened fire and rocket-propelled grenades on the vehicles. Cars were torched at the scene," the official added.
The Shia Houthi group, known locally as Ansarullah, advanced to the country's central regions after controlling the capital Sanaa in September.
However, they are facing growing resistance from Sunni tribes and Al Qaeda militants.
