Thirty-five activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front, Islami Chhatra Shibir, have been arrested from Bangladesh's Chittagong division in connection with cases of sabotage, police said Friday.

Imran Bhuiyan, Chittagong police superintendent, said they were arrested from Satkania and Lohagarha upazilas Thursday night, bdnews24.com reported.

Nineteen of them were arrested from Satkania and the rest from Lohagarha.

"They have warrants against them in various sabotage cases," he said.

The report, however, did not mention any particular cases, for which they arrested the accused.

Jamaat-e-Islami is a religious political party in Bangladesh. In 2013, the Supreme Court barred the party from contesting elections.
