37 killed and 40 missing in Vietnam floods, landslides

At least 37 people were killed and 40 others reported missing in floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains since the past four days in Vietnam, the authorities said on Thursday.

The floods and landslides have injured 21 people, inundated over 16,700 houses, damaged more than 39,300 hectares of crops and killed or swept away nearly 1,200 cattle and roughly 40,000 fowls, the Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.

The victims comprise 11 from Hoa Binh province, eight each from Nghe An and Thanh Hoa five from Son La, four from Yen Bai and and one from Hanoi city, reports Xinhua news agency.
