Parts of Khyber Pakhunkhwa province as well as the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi were rocked Thursday evening by a temblor measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, media reported.
People felt the earth shaking at around 5.14 p.m in Peshawar, Swat, Buttagram, Dirbala as well as in Rawalpindi and Islamabad following the earthquake, the epicentre of which was located 100 km deep in the Hindu Kush mountainous region in Afghanistan.
People inside buildings and houses panicked when they felt the jolts and immediately rushed out in the open.
No reports of any damage to life and property had so far been reported from any part of the country.
