Five militants were killed and two policemen sustained injures in an exchange of fire between insurgents and law enforcement agencies in Pakistan's southwestern Pishin district on Monday, local media reported.
Police and paramilitary troops carried out a search operation folowing an intelligence tip-off regarding presence of suspected militants in Huramzai area of Pishin, a district in the country's southwestern Balochistan province, according to Waqt News.
The militants opened fire at the police during the search operation, triggering off an exchange of firing in which five militants were killed. Several militants were arrested following the shootout.
Law enforcement agencies said weapons, foreign currency and explosive materials were also recovered from the militants.
The arrested militants were shifted to an undisclosed location for investigations.
The operation against terrorists and their facilitators in the district and adjoining areas was continuing.
