559 ceasefire violations on IB since June 2014

There have been 559 ceasefire violations along the international border (IB) between India and Pakistan between June 2014 to January 2015, parliament was told Tuesday.

In the same time period, the number of violations along the Line of Control (LoC) were 126, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

In 2014, four army personnel and four Border Security Force personnel were killed, while in 2015, two army personnel and one BSF personnel have been killed.

The number of civilian deaths deaths in cross border firing was 14 last year, and this year, two civilians have died.

 

The minister however said that there was no "authentic information" available on number of deaths on Pakistan's side.
