At least 70 people were killed in separate incidents triggered by torrential rains in Pakistan, a media reported Friday.

Most of the deaths were caused by roof collapses and electrocution in Punjab and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, Geo News reported.

According to the meteorogical department, a number of cities all over the country have received over 130 mm of rain.

People residing near rivers have been issued alerts by the district administration to evacuate their homes.

According to an earlier report, at least 63 people were killed.

Monsoon rains hit Pakistan every year in June and start retreating in the first week of September.
