The Jharkhand government on Monday said it will provide seeds at 75 percent subsidised rates to farmers, who are suffering from drought, for cultivation of Rabi season 2015 and Kharif season 2016.
"The state cabinet meeting decided to provide seeds at 75 percent subsidised rates to the farmers... to offset their losses which they suffered due to scanty rainfall this year," Cabinet Secretary N.N. Pandey told reporters.
He said: "The state cabinet has also given its approval to pay the premium on behalf of the farmers for the Agriculture Insurance Scheme."
Notably, more than 40 percent crops have been damaged in the state due to drought.
Jharkhand had already announced Rs.1,398 crore relief to farmers.
