Actor-producer Aamir Khan, who on Monday said his friend Salman Khan's "raped woman" comment was unfortunate and insensitive, likened himself to a waiter and immediately apologised.

At the poster launch of his film "Dangal" here, Aamir was asked about his reaction to Salman's comment that he felt like a "raped woman" while walking out of a ring in his role as a wrestler in his upcoming film "Sultan". While Salman had later said, "I don't think I should have" and explained that he found it hard to walk, the damage was done.

Aamir said: "I feel.... I was not present there... (But) going by the media reports, what he has said is rather unfortunate or rather insensitive."

Asked if he spoke to his "Andaaz Apna Apna" co-actor or gave him any advice, Aamir said: "No I didn't speak to him... And who am I to give him advice."

Aamir also said that Salman has always been a bigger star than him.

"I feel Shah Rukh, Salman, Amitabh Bachchan are bigger stars. There are a host of stars who I consider big and this includes Hrithik (Roshan), Ranbir (Kapoor) and Ranveer (Singh). There are so many stars who are hugely popular. I don't get into comparison," he said.

Then, he likened himself to a waiter while comparing himself with Salman.

"When I see Salman walking into a room, it feels like a star has arrived. When I enter it looks as if some waiter has entered," he said.

However, he quickly corrected himself and added: "I am sorry I shouldn't say that because waiters are great people. I shouldn't say that, but when Salman enters or Shah Rukh enters it feels like a star has come...they are bigger stars than me," he said.

Salman's "raped woman" comment didn't go down too well with a lot of people.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) and the Shiv Sena even demanded a public apology from Salman. He sent a letter to NCW via his lawyer but the organisation said it was not an apology. Now Salman has been summoned by the NCW on July 8.
