Bawana MLA Ved Prakash, who quit the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Thursday accused the ruling party in Delhi of mental harassment.
Addressing a press conference in the office of BJP leader Vijender Gupta's office, Prakash said even though he resigned from the Delhi assembly on Tuesday, his resignation was still not accepted by Speaker Ram Niwas Goel.
Ved Prakash said that Goel made him wait for one-and-a-half hours at his office even though it was the Speaker who had invited him.
"Even after pleading with him for around one hour, he did not accept my resignation (from the Delhi Assembly). He asked me all kinds of questions which had nothing to do with my resignation," Prakash said, adding he was told to reconsider his decision.
In another development, AAP MLA Rajesh Rishi (from Janakpuri) said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was surrounded by sycophants, a BJP statement said.
He asked Kejriwal to recognise "bad elements pretending to be his well-wishers" and advised him to remove them from the party, the statement added.
