Swedish-Swiss electrical equipment maker ABB on Wednesday said it has won a Rs 115-crore contract to supply transformers to the Indian Railways.
The order has been awarded by Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi, ABB said in a statement.
These transformers are custom-made for the WAP-7 type electric locomotive. The 6,000 horsepower locomotive can haul 24 coaches at a speed of up to 140 km per hour.
"As part of our commitment to the Railways, our technology enables 24x7, reliable and quality power for this critical mode of transportation," ABB said.
