AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy's woes continue as he will be sidelined for 10 weeks after undergoing surgery on his right foot Saturday.
Shaarawy, who had already been out of action for a couple of months due to a fractured metatarsal in his right foot, suffered a recurrence of the injury, reported Xinhua.
He was advised by specialists to have an operation to stabilise the fourth metatarsal in the right foot, taking some of the pressure off the area with the stress fracture.
Professor Niek Van Dijk performed the surgery and predicted a return to the playing field in around 10 weeks.
His prospect of playing in next year's World Cup is thrown into jeopardy as he wouldn't be back in action until mid-March.
