The Delhi Anti Corruption Branch on Wednesday initiated a probe into the state government's app-based premium bus service following allegations it did not have Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung's approval and favoured a particular aggregator.

According to the ACB, the probe was initiated after a complaint was filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Vijender Gupta.

"We have initiated an enquiry into the matter after we received a complaint alleging issuance of illegal LG notification," ACB chief M.K. Meena told IANS.

The complaint was filed with the ACB by the BJP leader on Tuesday.

"In his complaint he alleged that the government is favouring only one aggregator and no norms have been followed, and even the bus routes and the number of buses have not been decided," Meena added.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government had earlier announced a premium bus service in the national capital from June 1 in a bid to encourage people to shift from cars to public transport.
