Delhi's ACB chief M.K. Meena on Tuesday appeared before the High Court and sought time to file a response on the Arvind Kejriwal government's plea seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against him.
Justice V.P. Vaish recording the presence of Meena asked him to file the response by August 11 on the plea of the Delhi government seeking lodging of a case against him for not receiving a complaint made by a sub-divisional magistrate against some DDA officials while they were allegedly accepting a bribe.
On July 29, the court had summoned Meena while hearing the government's plea.
Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Sanjay Jain, appearing for the Centre told the court that in the case Meena had acted in accordance with law and there has been no wilful disobedience by him.
Senior advocate Dayan Krishnan, appearing for the Delhi government, however, said there was a central notification which says even if ACB has no jurisdiction to
lodge an FIR, it should at least register a zero FIR and transfer the case to the concerned police station.
