Kerala's Leader of Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan Wednesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into the Kozhikode ice cream parlour sex scandal.
The alleged racket in the early 1990s involved an ice-cream parlour in Kozhikode as its base and was dubbed by the media as the "ice cream parlour sex case".
In the petition, he noted that since the person accused in the case was a minister in the Kerala government, a police probe would not yield any result.
On August 30, the Kerala High Court dismissed Achuthanandan's petition seeking a CBI probe into the scandal allegedly involving Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty.
In 2011, he had approached the high court with a plea to initiate probe into the investigation following fresh disclosures made by K.A. Rauf, a close relative of Kunhalikutty.

In his petition submitted to the apex court, he highlighted that few vital disclosures made by Rauf were not probed which included the source of money handed over to the victims in the case.
Only a CBI probe would bring out the truth, Achuthanandan said in his petition.
The Supreme Court had given Kunhalikutty a clean chit in 2006.
