Oscar-winning American actor-filmmaker Forest Whitaker and Palestinian actress Hiam Abbass will be honoured with the Black Pearl Career Achievement awards on the opening night of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival here Thursday.
Whitaker, lauded for his performance as Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in the 2006 film "The Last King of Scotland", will mark his presence at the event, it was announced here.
Having starred in iconic films like "The Crying Game", he has also produced movies, and directed projects like "Hope Floats" and "Waiting To Exhale".
Abbass has worked in movies like "Munich", "The Visitor", "Miral", and "Peace After Marriage" (which will have its world premiere at ADFF 2013).
Abu Dhabi is gearing up to host a bevy of stars and film celebrities from across the globe for the annual movie gala, where 166 films are due to be screened.
