Unwell Ashmit Patel gets 'TLC' from Maheck

He's down with a bout of typhoid, but that didn't deter actor Ashmit Patel from continuing his test of love on "Power Couple" with his partner Maheck Chehal. He says his ladylove is taking great care of him.

Ashmit had high fever and the doctors advised him complete rest. Still, he decided to participate in the tasks for the reality show, where celebrity couples test their compatibility.

"I was down with extremely high fever as was shown in the past week's episodes, and the doctors had to be called in. Even Arbaaz (co-host Arbaaz Khan) came to check on me. It took a few days to diagnose exactly, and it was later detected that I had typhoid," Ashmit said in a statement.

"The makers gave me an option to return to Mumbai, see my family doctors and then come back on the show once I was completely recovered. But I decided to stay and continue with the tasks. I lost 3-4 kg of muscle weight, but I had Maheck by my side and she really took great care of me and gave me strength to continue," he added.

The show is being shot in the picturesque environs of Goa.

Ashmit said it is their "commitment to each other" that they are still part of the show "even though the tasks were very strenuous to perform".

"I am back on my feet now and well on the road to recovery to take on the New Year with renewed strength and vigour," he said.

Apart from Ashmit and Maheck, the Sony Entertainment Television show also features celebritites like Naved Jaffrey-Sayeeda, Apoorva Agnihotri-Shilpa Saklani, Aamir Ali-Sanjeeda Sheikh, Delnaaz Irani-Percy Karkaria, Salil Ankola-Ria Banerjee, Shawar Ali-Marsela, and Rahul Dev-Mugdha Godse.
