Senior parliamentarians including former Deputy Prime Minister L. K. Advani and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P. J. Kurien on Saturday paid floral tributes to the portrait of former Lok Sabha Speaker G.M.C. Balayogi in the Central Hall of Parliament House on his birth anniversary.
The Secretary General of Rajya Sabha Shumsher K. Sheriff and other senior officials of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Secretariats also paid floral tributes.
A booklet containing the profile of the late Balayogi, brought out in Hindi and English by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, was presented to the dignitaries on the occasion.
The function was also attended by BJP lawmaker Subramanian Swamy.
Balayogi was the Speaker of the 12th Lok Sabha and he was re-elected the Speaker of the 13th Lok Sabha.
Balayogi passed away on March 3, 2002 in a helicopter crash in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
