The management of the Dulhasti power project Wednesday cautioned the public of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts in Jammu region not to move near the Chenab River August 2 and 3.
"People residing in Benzwar, Cherhar, Bhanderkoot, Hasti, Kandni, Thathri, Premnagar and Pul Doda should not move near the River Chenab on Aug 2 and Aug 3 as the gates of Dulhasti Power Station Dam shall be opened for periodical reservoir flushing," a statement said.
"During this period, the water level may rise temporarily... the public residing near the River Chenab downstream is being warned to refrain from moving themselves, their cattle and vehicles etc near the river bank to avoid any mishap," the statement added.
The 390 MW Dulhasti hydro electric power project was built on the Chenab River in Kishtwar district of Jammu region by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation and the project became operational in 2007.
