India's Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) on Friday said it has given its nod to the country's nuclear plant operator, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) for the first pour of concrete for the third and fourth units at Tamil Nadu's Kudankulam.
In a statement, the AERB said the clearance was given at its June 19 meeting.
The clearance to the third and fourth units at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) was granted based on detailed safety review and satisfactory compliance to regulatory requirements.
According to AERB, excavation for main plant area for the proposed two 1,000 MW units have been completed and is ready for construction activities.
