Police backed by the army have killed more than two dozen Taliban militants during operations across Afghanistan, the interior ministry said on Wednesday.
"Afghan national police in conjunction with the army and National Directorate for Security conducted series of operations in Parwan, Baghlan, Takhar, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Sar-e-Pul, Jowzjan, Balkh, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Paktiya, Herat, Farah and Helmand provinces over the past 24 hours during which 25 armed Taliban members have been killed," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, 21 more militants sustained injuries and three were arrested during the operations, Xinhua reported.
