At least seven militants were killed and eight others wounded during military operations in various Afghan provinces since early Monday, the Afghan interior ministry said Tuesday.
"Afghan National Police (ANP), army and the intelligence agency conducted several anti-terrorism joint operations in Laghman, Kandahar, Wardak and Farah provinces. As a result seven armed Taliban members were killed, eight wounded and eight others were arrested," Xinhua quoted the ministry as saying in a statement.
The security forces also seized weapons, the ministry added, without specifying whether there were any casualties on the side of security forces.
The ANP also found and defused 24 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Laghman, Kandahar, Uruzgan and Wardak provinces, the ministry said.
