Afghanistan's acting Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani on Monday called for the immediate dismissal of all security institution heads following the recent attacks in Kabul, that left over 100 people dead.
Rabbani, who is also the leader of the Jamiat-e-Islami party, said all heads of security branches including the National Security Advisor Haneef Atmar must be sacked along with General Taj Mohammad Jahid, Minister of Interior Affairs, National Directorate of Security Chief Masoom Stanekzai and acting Defence Minister Tariq Shah Bahrami, Tolo News reported.
Apart from the sacking of the security chiefs, Rabbani urged a full investigation into the recent attacks in Kabul and said that those involved must be prosecuted.
He said the recent attacks have raised questions about the security institutions and their abilities, adding that there were circles within the government and security institutions that have links to the Taliban.
The Jamiat leader went on to say that the recent spate of deadly incidents in Kabul showed that security institutions were not able to secure the Afghan people.
