The Afghan leadership on Thursday rejected claims by Islamabad authorities suggesting that a critically wounded Afghan soldier was rescued by Pakistani troops who crossed the border into Afghanistan and took the wounded soldier to a hospital on the other side of the Durand Line.
A statement by Afghan interior ministry said the wounded soldier was transferred to a hospital in Nangarhar in Afghanistan with the help of the mobile health workers of Pakistan who were providing first aid, Khaama press reported.
"The soldier was injured in a militant attack on zero point along the Durand Line in Sarkano district of Kunar province," the statement added.
Pakistan's Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) on Tuesday said the soldier was evacuated after receiving a request from the Afghan authorities.
A statement by ISPR said Pakistani troops entered 600 metres inside Afghan soil near Bajaur Agency to rescue the wounded soldier.
