Several African nations on Wednesday said they were willing to learn "Indian methods of agriculture for the improvement of agriculture" in their countries.
The countries also appealed to India to "Make in Africa" on the lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Make in India" programme.
"We should have joint research and development program to understand Indian methods of agriculture for the improvement of agriculture in Africa.
"This will not only help in increasing productivity of the crops but will also build the bond between the nations," Ghana's Minister for Food and Agriculture, Fiffi Fiavi Kwetey, said during the ongoing India Africa Business Forum here.
He said: "Green and white revolution catalysed India's agricultural growth and such revolution is required in Africa too."
Apart from Kwetey, Namibia's Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry John Mutorwa, Malawi's Minister of Agriculture Allan Chiyembekeza and Senegal's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Equipment Papa Abdoulaye SECK also spelt out similar views.
African leaders stressed upon the technology as a need of the hour in the agriculture sector.
"Indian agriculture technology will be a boost not only for the agriculture but the economy of the partner nations," Abdoulaye said.
While acknowledging the Africa's efforts toward the growth of agriculture sector, Jain Irrigation System's Managing Director Anil Jain said for a sustainable growth in agriculture information about the modern technology is a must.
"Balance farming, micro irrigation, hybrid seeds and tissue culture are some of the new techniques which can be implemented in Africa," he said.
"In India around five million farmers are using these techniques," he added.
