Air India augments manpower at Dehradun airport

National carrier Air India Wednesday said it has posted additional manpower at the Dehradun airport to facilitate faster movement of pilgrims and tourists stranded in flood-hit Uttarakhand.

"Dehradun station has been strengthened with additional manpower... (alongwith) dedicated staff at reservation level to handle express confirmations in case of requirement," the civil aviation ministry said here.

"On the recommendation of respective resident commissioners of various states, booking office of Air India has been issuing tickets for the stranded passengers," it said.

According to the ministry, apart from carrying out normal operations between Dehradun-Delhi, the national carrier has ferried more than 350 passengers to Chennai and 75 to Odisha.

 

The airline earlier announced a 50 percent discount on basic fare for stranded pilgrims and tourists passengers flying out of Dehradun.
