Air India's Delhi-San Francisco non-stop flight takes off

National flag carrier Air India's maiden non-stop flight from Delhi to San Francisco in the US took off on Wednesday from here, an official said.

"With the commencement of Delhi-San Francisco operations, Air India became the first airline to offer direct connections from India to the west coast of the US," Air India said in a statement.

The tri-weekly Bengaluru-to-San Francisco flight via Delhi will begin at Bengaluru at 9.15 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday on an Airbus A321 aircraft and arrive in Delhi at 11.45 p.m.

It will then leave Delhi for San Francisco on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 2.35 a.m. deploying a Boeing B777-200LR aircraft, the Air India said. It will reach San Francisco at 7 a.m. on the same day and depart at 10.30 a.m. to reach Delhi the next day.

 

The flight will further depart for Bengaluru at 4.20 p.m., arriving in the Karnataka's capital at 5.45 p.m.

Flight AI - 173 will have dynamic pricing for its fares, the inaugural fare is pegged at Rs.82,500 for a return ticket, the Air India said.

The Air India is offering the facility of undergoing customs and immigration formalities for passengers at Bengaluru airport itself.

The Air India connects 50 domestic and 34 international destinations.
