Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Tuesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking prompt action on issues like e-ticketing facility for tourists coming to the Taj Mahal in Agra.
In his letter, Yadav said due to lack of the e-ticketing facility, tickets are sold only at the ASI windows forcing domestic and foreign tourists to wait in serpentine queues for hours.
The state government officials have held many meetings with officials of the union culture ministry on this issue, the UP chief minister wrote while pointing out that minister of state (independent charge) for tourism had also announced the e-ticketing facility in this financial year but not much headway has been made in this direction.
Yadav also said that the way airlines have bar codes on e-ticketing/e-boarding passes, the same should be implemented for entry to the Taj Mahal.
Other than this, he requested, the entry points should be increased and more X-ray and frisking machines should be installed at the monument.
He also told the prime minister that projects worth Rs 167.92 crore are already underway to create world class infrastructure around the Taj Mahal.
